Good day and welcome to my column! Some of you already know me from the galleries from Zoom-Bizarre and on the Zoom Friends pages, but if you don’t, let me tell you a little about myself. Then I will go on to the good stuff . Right, female, Dutch, into rubber/bondage and living in Northern Ireland. Working there, holding down a pretty normal job and I bet you wouldn’t think I am kinky when you’d see me on the street. I would just gang up on you and pull out my rubber gear! Mwuhaha!
In my column I will write my thoughts on fetish in general and the BDSM/fetish scene in Northern Ireland/Republic of Ireland.
The island of Ireland is known for its friendly people and great landscapes, but not exactly for its fetish scene . However a team of dedicated people are working hard to change that and they have been organising regular fetish parties in the centre of Dublin. So why don’t I start my series of columns with a review on the fine BDSM/fetish parties held in Dublin: Nimhneach.
Nimhneach is the first regular Ireland fetish clubbing event, held in a bar in the centre of Dublin. The venue is normally a place for all those who are into Metal music and has kindly agreed to offer the top floor as a space to Nimhneach.
I have been to Nimhneach twice and every time I have been pleasantly surprised by the friendliness of people, the great atmosphere and the variety of visitors. You will meet people from all age groups and subcultures and there is a good male to female ratio to top up the experience.
Besides “seeing and being seen” thanks to the great outfits everyone is wearing, there is a place to play as well, with a sturdy frame and ropes available to fix your naughty sub to. You would need to bring your own whips/handcuffs and other equipment but you have that, don’t you? And if you think you are all out things to wear, there are 2 fine fetish shops in Dublin: Hysteria and Miss Fantasia.
So, if you are planning a trip to Dublin, I would certainly check out when the next Nimhneach is held and see if you can plan your holiday around it!
